The spouse of French President Emmanuel Macron is preparing to submit photographic proof of her identity as a woman in a United States court. The legal representative for President Macron and his wife, Brigitte, announced that they will introduce the photos as evidence in their defamation lawsuit against conservative influencer Candace Owens. The legal action, initiated in July, alleges that Owens spread false and damaging claims that led to a campaign of public embarrassment and harassment.
During an interview on the BBC’s Fame Under Fire podcast, lead attorney Tom Clare disclosed that the couple is ready to demonstrate both generally and specifically the falsehood of Owens’ allegations. Clare hinted at the use of expert testimony with a scientific basis to debunk the claims. When asked if the photographs would depict Mrs. Macron during her pregnancy, Clare declined to provide additional details, indicating that the images would be disclosed in court proceedings as per BBC reports.
Clare emphasized that Owens’ remarks deeply disturbed the Macrons, stating, “It is extremely distressing to feel compelled to present this kind of evidence.” Despite the distress, Mrs. Macron is prepared to undergo public scrutiny to clarify the situation.
Further, Clare acknowledged that the controversy had been a distraction for the French president, noting, “I don’t want to imply that it has affected his performance.” He highlighted that, as the leader of a nation, the president is not immune to such distractions.
