Virgin Media has emerged as the top choice for homes seeking superior broadband speeds, reliability, and consistent quality, according to the latest assessment by Opensignal. The UK Internet Service Provider (ISP) outperformed its competitors across all categories, including Download Speed, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Consistent Quality.
Andrey Popov, Principal Analyst, highlighted Virgin Media’s overall broadband excellence, attributing it to the company’s upgraded cable-to-fibre network. Virgin’s impressive performance in Download Speed (187.8Mbps) and Reliability Experience (747 points) sets it apart from providers relying on the Openreach wholesale platform.
Vodafone secured the second position overall, earning commendable scores in all areas. Unlike most ISPs, Vodafone benefits from a dual-network strategy by operating on both the Openreach and CityFibre networks, giving it a competitive edge.
Other notable ISPs include BT, ranking third in Consistent Quality and Download Speed categories, while Sky excelled in Video Experience, securing the second spot in this segment.
On the flip side, Three landed at the bottom of the rankings due to its poor performance in Consistent Quality, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Reliability Experience. TalkTalk also faced challenges with download speeds, averaging 55.1Mbps compared to Virgin’s 180Mbps+ speeds.
The latest Opensignal survey results showcase the top performers across various broadband categories, with Virgin Media leading the pack in Consistent Quality, Download Speed, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Reliability Experience.
