“Mysterious Death near Landmark in São Paulo”

Must Read

In January 2012, the body of Geralda Lúcia Ferraz Guabiraba, aged 54, was discovered near a landmark on the outskirts of Mairiporã. The scene was disturbing, with Geralda found in a cross-like position next to the Pedra da Macumba, a location known for religious practices and eerie tales.

Geralda’s body showed signs of violence, including missing eyes, facial mutilation, and a deep neck wound, leading to suspicions of a ritualistic killing. The area around Pedra da Macumba, scattered with ritualistic items and offerings, added to the mysterious ambiance.

Witnesses reported seeing Geralda’s car parked by the road the night she disappeared. A witness mentioned seeing a muscular man driving her car, followed by another vehicle, hinting at a possible abduction. Investigation into her computer history revealed searches related to a potent poison, raising further questions.

Initially thought to be a homicide, forensic analysis later indicated a different scenario. The medical examiner’s report suggested that Geralda might have taken her own life, citing severe depression and toxicology results showing lethal levels of poison in her system. The injuries on her body were attributed to post-mortem animal scavenging, dispelling the initial ritual sacrifice theories.

After an extensive investigation by the DHPP, it was concluded that Geralda’s death was a suicide. The absence of evidence linking anyone to the crime led to the closure of the case. Despite the final ruling, the case left a lasting impact due to the eerie setting and the twists in the narrative, becoming a notable mystery in São Paulo’s recent history.
