“Morrisons Slashes Baileys Price to £11 for Festive Season”

Must Read

Morrisons has reduced the price of 1-liter Baileys to £11 in preparation for the upcoming holiday season. This special offer provides a £3 discount from its regular price of £14 and will be available until Sunday, November 2 in England and Wales, without the need for a loyalty card.

Comparatively, the same-sized bottle of Baileys is currently priced at £13.98 in Asda, £22 (£14 with a Nectar card) in Sainsbury’s, and £22.50 (£14 with a Clubcard) in Tesco. Last year, Morrisons discounted Baileys to £8.50, but customers were required to spend £45 and be a Morrisons More member to access the deal.

In other retailers like Sainsbury’s and Tesco, Baileys was priced at £10 last year for Nectar and Clubcard members, respectively. Baileys is a popular Irish cream liqueur made from whiskey, cream, and hints of cocoa and vanilla.

Meanwhile, Morrisons is gearing up to convert numerous corner shops into its branded convenience stores. The supermarket intends to introduce 250 new Morrisons Daily convenience stores next year by enabling corner shop owners to rebrand their shops as Morrisons franchises, particularly targeting areas where Morrisons has limited presence, such as cities in the south and the Midlands.

This initiative represents a significant step in Morrisons’ growth strategy, with plans to open around 160 new convenience stores this year alone. A Morrisons spokesperson emphasized the company’s ambitious expansion plans and the introduction of the franchise model to swiftly establish new stores in a cost-effective manner.

Simultaneously, Morrisons is streamlining its operations by closing 103 stores, cafes, florists, and pharmacies this year. The supermarket has already shuttered 17 Morrisons Daily convenience stores as part of a broader restructuring effort. Additionally, more than 50 cafes, 13 florists, four pharmacies, and all 18 Market Kitchens will be closed, along with 35 meat counters and 35 fish counters, as part of a comprehensive review to enhance efficiency.

Rami Baitiéh, Chief Executive of Morrisons, acknowledged the impact of these changes on employees, stating the company’s commitment to working with third parties to provide specialized services in locations where in-house offerings are being discontinued.
