“Apple’s Upgraded AirTag Enhances Precision Finding”

Must Read

Apple’s AirTag has become a must-have for those prone to misplacing keys. These small, disc-shaped trackers, introduced in 2021, quickly gained popularity for their ability to pinpoint lost items on a map. Their compact size allows them to be easily attached to keys, placed in bags, laptop cases, or luggage.

When in close proximity to the AirTag, your iPhone provides precise on-screen directions, and the AirTag emits a sound to aid in locating it. The latest AirTag iteration boasts an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip, extending its range significantly.

Apple states that this enhancement improves Precision Finding by up to 50%, making it simpler to find lost items from greater distances. Precision Finding is now supported on certain Apple Watch models, enabling users to locate misplaced items directly from their wrist.

Additionally, the new AirTag features a redesigned internal speaker, producing sounds that are 50% louder than before, making it easier to find when hidden in obscure spots.

AirTags utilize Apple’s extensive Find My network, which leverages nearby Apple devices to relay location updates anonymously. This system has been revamped with a focus on privacy, ensuring that AirTags do not store location history on the device and all communication with the Find My network is encrypted end-to-end for owner-exclusive access.

The latest AirTag seamlessly integrates with Share Item Location, an iOS function allowing users to securely share an item’s location with trusted parties, like airlines, to aid in retrieving lost belongings. Apple has collaborated with over 50 airlines to support this feature.

The new AirTag is now available for purchase on apple.com/uk and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability expected later this week. Prices start at £29 for a single AirTag or £99 for a pack of four, offering a more affordable option compared to the original launch price of £35.
