“Maxwell’s Former NYC Mansion Hits Market After Price Hike”

Must Read

Ghislaine Maxwell’s former luxurious residence in New York City’s Upper East Side has returned to the market with a substantial price tag. The property situated on East 65th Street was acquired by Manhattan real estate tycoon Frederick Rudd for $15 million (£11 million) in 2016, with Maxwell agreeing to a price $4 million (£3.7 million) below the asking price.

Following Mr. Rudd’s passing at the age of 70 last year, the five-story townhouse is now listed for sale at $17.75 million (£13 million). Described as a “stunning 1910 Beaux-Arts-style limestone and brick townhouse” on one of Manhattan’s sought-after tree-lined avenues, the property boasts high ceilings, two fireplaces, and white oak flooring, creating an ideal atmosphere for sophisticated gatherings.

Although not explicitly disclosed in the listing, the property’s history includes being previously owned by Maxwell before undergoing a complete renovation. Maxwell, a disgraced British socialite, acquired the home from a lawyer for Jeffrey Epstein in 2000 and frequently hosted exclusive events such as private dinners, cocktail parties, and receptions, welcoming prominent figures like the president and first lady of Iceland, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and actress Kelly Rutherford.

Recent reports unveiled that Maxwell’s former mansion is back on the market coinciding with exclusive images capturing her en route to a yoga class at her new correctional facility where she is serving her sentence. Outrage surfaced among her victims as she was transferred to a cushier facility, violating U.S. prison regulations prohibiting sex offenders from being housed in minimum-security prisons like Federal Prison Camp Bryan, Texas.

Expressing disappointment, one survivor of Epstein’s abuse condemned Maxwell’s privileged treatment, highlighting the injustice faced by victims while she enjoys amenities like yoga sessions amid her incarceration. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022 for aiding Epstein in sexually exploiting underage girls, marking a significant legal victory for the survivors who persevered for justice after previous prosecution attempts failed.

Epstein’s suicide in 2019 before trial revealed his extensive exploitation of vulnerable girls as young as 14 over many years, with prosecutors asserting Maxwell’s crucial role in enabling his criminal activities. Despite the sentence being shorter than sought by prosecutors, Epstein’s victims found solace in the long-awaited semblance of justice, acknowledging the arduous journey and advocating for the silenced voices of survivors.
