Virgin Media is rolling out a major upgrade on its TV platform, offering customers three new bonus channels at no extra cost. The telecoms giant has partnered with Rakuten to introduce three FAST channels featuring drama, comedy, and sci-fi content.
Subscribers can now access Rakuten TV Drama on channel 462, showcasing popular movies like The Big Short, Gosford Park, and JFK. Additionally, Rakuten TV Comedy on channel 463 presents films such as Big Momma’s House, The Internship, and Bedazzled for viewers to enjoy. For sci-fi enthusiasts, Rakuten TV: Sci Fi on channel 464 promises a range of otherworldly content.
The new channels are automatically available on Virgin TV 360 and Flex, requiring no action from customers. Users can easily locate the channels in the Virgin Media TV guide and through voice control search functionality.
David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, expressed excitement about the enhanced entertainment offerings, emphasizing the value and quality of content for customers. With the addition of these new streaming channels, Virgin TV customers now have access to a total of 40 FAST channels, including British Screen Classics, Inside Crime, and U&Transport.
While a monthly subscription fee is necessary for Virgin Media TV access, the expanded channel lineup provides a more comprehensive selection compared to free services.
