“Royal Absence at Trump Banquet Due to Japan Visit”

Must Read

Two prominent members of the royal family were notably absent from the state banquet held at Windsor Castle in honor of Donald Trump’s US state visit. While other key royals such as the King, Queen, and the Prince and Princess of Wales were present to welcome the US President and First Lady Melania, Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, were conspicuously missing.

Their absence was due to their upcoming four-day visit to Japan, scheduled to commence the following day. The royal couple is set to engage in various activities in both Tokyo and Osaka, focusing on strengthening the longstanding relationship between the UK and Japan. The agenda includes discussions on youth opportunities, sustainability, innovation, education, and women in leadership.

During their visit, the Duke and Duchess will tour the UK and Japanese Pavilions at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, aiming to address global challenges by uniting people and innovations from across the world. This trip marks an important international role for the Duchess, following her recent visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.

Although Prince Edward and Sophie were absent from the US state banquet, they were present during the French state visit banquet in July. Meanwhile, the state banquet at Windsor Castle marked the conclusion of the second day of President Trump’s visit, where he was warmly received by various members of the royal family.

The event included a carriage procession through the Windsor estate, with military bands from the Royal Marines, the Army, and the RAF lining the route. Additionally, Mr. and Mrs. Trump paid respects at the late Queen Elizabeth II’s tomb and enjoyed a flypast by the Red Arrows and military jets from the UK and US.

The grand state banquet at Windsor Castle served as the highlight of the evening, featuring speeches from both President Trump and Prince Charles. This event underscored the importance of the ongoing diplomatic relations between the UK and the US.
