“Snow Forecasted in Scotland Amid Autumn Chill”

Must Read

This weekend, some parts of Britain are expected to see snowfall as temperatures drop during a cold autumn spell. A new weather map indicates snow falling in five areas of Scotland on Sunday morning, including towns in Argyll and Bute, Sterling, Perth and Kinross, North Ayrshire, and Inverclyde. Meanwhile, the north of England and Northern Ireland will experience rain, while a drier outlook is anticipated in the south. Despite summer-like conditions returning briefly on Friday, with temperatures reaching 25C-26C in parts of southern England, snow is forecast to make an appearance.

Edinburgh is expected to reach a maximum temperature of 19C on the same day, while Manchester and Cardiff are forecasted to reach 21C, and Belfast 17C. However, the warm weather is not likely to persist as temperatures are set to decrease towards the end of the weekend, dropping into the low-to-mid teens during the day and single figures at night across the UK.

Although snowfall in Scotland in mid-September is not unheard of, recent milder conditions have made it less common. The average daytime temperatures in September typically hover around 16C, slightly lower than the 19C average in England. Rainy conditions are also expected over the weekend, with the Met Office forecasting unsettled weather with rain and strong winds. The outlook for the following week suggests wetter conditions, with a northwest-southeast split expected, bringing a mix of drier spells in the north and northwest and rain or showers in the south and east.

Looking ahead, the weather is anticipated to turn colder with a northerly flow establishing for a period. Towards the end of the week, drier and settled conditions may prevail as high pressure becomes more dominant, although coastal showers could still occur. Temperatures are predicted to gradually return closer to average during this period, with a possibility of a shift to a more changeable pattern later on.
