Man Fatally Shoots Ex-Wife in Hospital Attack

Must Read

A disturbing video has surfaced depicting a man tracking down his former wife inside a hospital in southern Turkey before fatally shooting her. The chilling footage obtained by NewsX captures the moment 44-year-old Atilla Ayintapli attacked his ex-wife, Eser Karaca, 42, at the hospital where she worked as a medical secretary. Karaca had recently sought a restraining order against Ayintapli.

The CCTV footage from May shows Ayintapli entering the office with a shotgun, prompting Karaca to try to flee with a colleague as onlookers scattered in fear. Despite Karaca’s efforts to shield herself, Ayintapli continued to shoot her lifeless body multiple times.

Following the tragic incident, Ayintapli fled the scene while Karaca’s colleagues rushed to her aid. Despite being taken to the same hospital’s emergency room, Karaca succumbed to her injuries. Authorities revealed that Karaca had filed a restraining order against Ayintapli earlier that day due to his persistent stalking and past abusive behavior.

Turkish police promptly apprehended Ayintapli and charged him with Karaca’s murder, along with threatening her colleague. During interrogation, Ayintapli confessed to the crime and is currently awaiting trial, with prosecutors seeking a life sentence for him.

The prevalence of femicides, the killing of women due to their gender, has been on the rise in Turkey. Furthermore, a controversial ruling by Turkey’s highest court in August suggests that men may receive reduced sentences for killing women if provoked. This decision has ignited outrage among activists and legal experts, underscoring systemic issues in Turkey’s handling of femicide cases.
