The latest Formula 1 season has kicked off with George Russell clinching victory in Melbourne. Fans can look forward to an exciting 2026 season as the racing calendar spans across various countries worldwide. Sky has exciting news for its customers, revealing a significant TV upgrade that will enhance the sports viewing experience.
Sky is set to roll out an update soon, introducing a new interactive feature for viewers. This update will include a smart sidebar on screens during race weekends, offering tools like Race Control and Recap for quick replays of thrilling moments. Additionally, viewers can easily access live in-race standings through this feature.
In addition to more interactive features during races, the update will also bring dedicated driver and team pages. This will grant fans access to onboard cameras, enhanced race data, explainers, and improved homepage navigation for a more immersive experience.
To access these new features, Sky Sports subscribers using Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q devices will receive them for free. Although an exact launch date is yet to be confirmed, the upgrade is expected to be available later in the season at no extra cost to existing Sky Sports subscribers.
Moreover, Formula 1 enthusiasts can catch every practice, qualifying session, and race live with Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle. This bundle not only provides access to Sky Sports but also offers around 100 TV channels and complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.
Sky’s statement to Express.co.uk highlighted the introduction of an immersive sidebar for TV viewing during race weekends in 2026. Additionally, Sky has unveiled an Ultimate TV subscription plan that combines major streaming services at a reduced monthly price of £24. This package includes access to Disney+, Netflix, Hayu, and the upcoming HBO Max app in the UK.
According to Sky, the Ultimate TV plan offers great value by consolidating approximately £20 worth of streaming services into one convenient package. Subscribers will enjoy Netflix Standard with Ads, Disney+ Standard with Ads, HBO Max Basic with Ads, Hayu, and over 130 Sky channels included in the £24 plan.
