Taylor Swift Snubbed at 2026 Grammys Despite Record Sales

Must Read

Taylor Swift did not receive any nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards, despite the remarkable success of her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” The album, Taylor’s 12th studio release, achieved outstanding sales of 4.002 million equivalent album units in its debut week in the US, surpassing Adele’s previous record. However, the album was ineligible for the current Grammy Awards due to its release after the eligibility cutoff date. Taylor Swift, aged 35, will have the opportunity to be considered for the 2027 Grammys.

The 2026 Grammy Awards will be celebrating achievements in the music industry from August 31, 2024, to August 30, 2025. Notably, Beyoncé also missed out on nominations this year because her album, “Cowboy Carter,” was released before the eligibility period. The Grammy Awards ceremony, which recognizes talents from various music genres, is scheduled to take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 1, 2026. Leading the nominations are rapper Kendrick Lamar and pop icon Lady Gaga.

Kendrick Lamar, aged 38 and a recipient of 22 Grammy Awards, received nine nominations this year across multiple categories. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga, aged 39, is up for awards in the record, song, and album of the year categories for the first time simultaneously, adding to her existing 14 Grammy wins. Other notable nominees include Jack Antonoff, Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, and Cirkut.

In addition to the main categories, new artist nominees include Lola Young and Olivia Dean, both successful British artists. Sir Elton John and Brandi Carlile also received a nomination for their song “Never Too Late,” featured in a documentary about Elton John. Various new award categories have been introduced this year, including traditional country album and best album cover.

Furthermore, the BBC concert “Live At The Royal Albert Hall,” featuring Raye, is nominated in the music film category. Notable first-time nominees this year include Tate McRae, Zara Larsson, and PinkPantheress. The nominations also feature new song categories and a range of diverse artists from different music backgrounds.
