“Christian Horner Considered for Aston Martin Team Principal Role”

Must Read

Christian Horner is being considered as a potential replacement for Andy Cowell as the team principal of Aston Martin following rumors of Cowell’s impending dismissal post the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The 56-year-old Horner, a former Red Bull chief, has been eager to return to Formula 1 since leaving in July.

After a challenging Las Vegas GP, reports from RacingNews365 indicated that Cowell’s position at Aston Martin was at risk due to the team’s current struggles in the Constructors’ Championship standings. The team, currently in seventh place, is only eight points ahead of Sauber in ninth place. The report suggested that Andreas Seidl, a former McLaren and Sauber figure, was a top contender for the role.

Despite this, BBC Sport has revealed that Horner is also in contention to take over from Cowell. Horner, who left the sport in July, has been linked with various teams, including Ferrari, Haas, and Alpine. Should he secure the role at Aston Martin, it could mark a significant opportunity for him.

Rumors of Horner joining Aston Martin surfaced prior to the Singapore Grand Prix, but Cowell denied any interest in the 52-year-old, stating that there were no plans for Christian to be involved with the team in any capacity.

If Horner were to return to the grid with Aston Martin, it would lead to a reunion with his rival Zak Brown, who criticized him before the Las Vegas triple header. Brown acknowledged Horner’s past successes but noted a perceived change in his demeanor over the years.

In Las Vegas, Horner’s former team, Red Bull, celebrated as Max Verstappen triumphed in the race, keeping his hopes alive in the Drivers’ Championship. However, both McLaren cars faced disqualification post-race, impacting the standings as Verstappen closed in on Norris at the top.
