Double Cold Weather Payments have been distributed to certain households this week following snowy conditions in various parts of the UK.
Cold Weather Payments amounting to £25 each are provided whenever the average temperature in your area drops to zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. If there are multiple periods of freezing weather, you may receive several payments.
Eighteen postcode regions have qualified for two Cold Weather Payments, totaling £50, due to triggers on December 30 and January 6. These postcodes include:
The Mirror recently disclosed the 451 postcode regions eligible for Cold Weather Payments this year. You qualify for a payment if you receive specific benefits or mortgage assistance.
If you are entitled to a payment, it will be automatically deposited into your bank account within 14 working days. However, if you have a baby or a child under five moves in with you, you must apply for the payment.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) administers Cold Weather Payments, and the program will continue until March 31, 2026.
Cold Weather Payments are not applicable in Scotland, where they have been substituted by the Winter Heating Payment worth £59.75.
