Must Read

A man named Inigo Rowland, aged 58, has been formally accused of stalking Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey and his family. The alleged incidents spanned several months this year, leading to Rowland’s arrest on Monday. He made a court appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and is set to return for further proceedings next week, according to the Metropolitan Police. Alongside the stalking charge, Rowland also faces accusations of possessing a flick knife.

Sir Ed Davey, who has been at the helm of the Liberal Democrats since 2020 and achieved a notable outcome for the party in the previous general election with 72 MPs, has refrained from making any public statements regarding the matter.

A party spokesperson emphasized the primary concern for Sir Ed Davey is the safety of his family but refrained from providing additional details. The Liberal Democrat leader resides in South West London with his wife Emily, their daughter Ellie, and their son John, who has special needs due to an undisclosed neurological condition.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Inigo Rowland from Surbiton faces charges related to stalking and possessing a flick knife. Following his appearance at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, he was detained in custody. The next court date for Rowland is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14. The arrest of Rowland on October 6 was in connection to alleged incidents occurring between June and October.
