Singer and actress Selena Gomez faced a lawsuit on Thursday from investors alleging fraud due to her alleged failure to fulfill obligations related to the development and promotion of her mental health startup. The investors had contributed close to $1.2 million in Wondermind Global, a venture launched in 2021 with the aim of enhancing users’ “mental fitness,” as per the lawsuit filed in federal court in Delaware.
The investors claimed they were promised Gomez’s active involvement in the company’s growth as the head of marketing, given her significant social media following exceeding 500 million. However, they contended that Gomez and other company executives did not uphold their commitments, which included the creation of a mobile application. The lawsuit stated that Gomez purportedly agreed to contractual obligations but disregarded them, and the company failed to fulfill even basic responsibilities such as timely payments to employees and vendors.
The plaintiffs argued that there was no viable business operation in progress and criticized the company for not meeting its fundamental obligations. A spokesperson for Gomez did not provide an immediate response to the lawsuit. The legal action revealed that the investors were unaware of the company’s challenges until a news report surfaced online in September 2025, prompting them to seek reimbursement for their investments and legal expenses.
