Serbian politician Darko Glišić experienced a stroke while participating in a live television interview. Glišić, a former public investment minister, was a guest on a morning program on the Serbian TV channel Pink on Tuesday. His condition took a drastic turn during the interview as his speech slowed down, his eyes began to close, and he displayed classic stroke symptoms. A video clip of the incident circulated widely on social media.
Following the incident, Glišić was promptly taken to the Clinical Centre of Serbia and is reported to be in critical condition. According to the Serbian newspaper Informer, he was hospitalized in an unconscious state and is currently receiving intensive medical treatment after undergoing a complicated surgery.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, visited Glišić in the hospital and shared a positive update on his Instagram page, stating that Glišić’s condition had improved and that he had personally spoken to him. Vučić expressed optimism and determination, emphasizing that Serbia would not be defeated.
In a subsequent update on August 7, President Vučić posted a photo showing him standing alongside Glišić, who appeared to be recovering. Glišić was pictured smiling, with medical wires visible, indicating ongoing treatment and monitoring.
Strokes occur when blood flow to the brain is disrupted, leading to potential speech and movement impairments. Recognizable symptoms include facial drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech, vision problems, dizziness, nausea, and severe headaches.
Darko Glišić has been serving as the minister for public investments since 2024 and is currently the president of the executive board of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). Beyond his political career, Glišić is married with two children and holds the position of president at the women’s volleyball club, ŽOK Ub.
