“M6 Motorway Closed Both Ways After Lorry Overturns”

Must Read

The M6 motorway experienced closures in both directions due to a lorry overturning, causing significant traffic disruption for commuters on Monday morning. Emergency services swiftly responded to the crash site in Cumbria, located between J41 for Wigton and J42 for Carlisle South. Cumbria Police reported that the incident, involving a heavy goods vehicle and a Vauxhall Corsa, occurred around 3:43 am.

For road users heading northbound, it is recommended to follow the solid triangle symbols on road signs, while those traveling southbound should adhere to the solid square symbols. Cumbria Police issued a statement confirming the closure of the M6 between junctions 41 and 42 in both directions following the collision that led to the lorry overturning.

Although there were no reports of serious injuries, the closure is expected to last for a while as the overturned HGV is cleared. Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible and allocate extra time for their journeys. The M6 closure resulted from a lorry crossing the central reservation and overturning.
