Shocking photographs emerged following a suspected gas explosion near a prominent holiday park, depicting a severely damaged and nearly flattened residence.
In response to the incident at Ladram Bay in Otterton, close to Ladram Bay Holiday Park, emergency services swiftly arrived after a property in the east Devon village was torn apart by the impact. The authorities, including Devon and Cornwall Police, had to close a local road to ensure safety during the rescue efforts.
Images captured at the site displayed scattered debris on the grassy area of a residential neighborhood, with smoke rising from the debris, creating a hazy scene. This incident occurred shortly after a video circulated showing a train colliding with a van at a level crossing, miraculously leaving the driver unharmed.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police revealed that local residents, farmers, and Ladram Bay park staff were the first to respond to the scene, with the assumption being that the explosion was triggered by gas.
The police spokesperson stated that they are supporting the fire service in addressing the suspected gas explosion at a house in Otterton, emphasizing no injuries were reported. The road closure between Otterton Village and Ladram Bay is anticipated to last for a while as the situation unfolds.
Meanwhile, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue also suspected a gas explosion as the cause, dispatching five fire engines to the location. They confirmed that all individuals in the vicinity were safe, with no injuries reported.
The authorities segmented the incident to efficiently control the fire and prevent its spread after the detached property on Ladram Road was completely engulfed in flames upon their arrival. Ladram Bay Holiday Park assured visitors of ongoing updates as road closures persisted due to circumstances beyond their control, apologizing for any inconvenience caused.
