“British Tourist Collapses After Drink Spiked in Brazil”

Must Read

A British man, aged 21, has shared his experience of losing consciousness after consuming a few sips of a drink in Brazil, resembling a ‘Goodnight Cinderella’ scenario. Subsequently, he was captured on camera collapsing on a Brazilian beach, where a Good Samaritan came to his aid upon noticing his distress.

The man, now recovered, narrated that he was given a Capriahna cocktail by three women, of which he only took a couple of sips before losing awareness. He was observed stumbling towards the renowned Ipanema beach in Rio de Janeiro before collapsing, with footage of the incident going viral.

In a filmed interview outside his holiday residence, the victim, along with another British student who was also targeted, expressed gratitude towards the bystander who assisted them and recorded the women fleeing the scene. The heroic delivery driver who intervened and alerted emergency services was acknowledged by the British pair in their interview.

The Good Samaritan, who filmed the distressing scene of the British man collapsing on the beach, described his condition as unresponsive and drooling. He promptly contacted emergency services for assistance.

The unfortunate incident took place during the midweek outing of the British duo in Rio’s Lapa neighborhood, where they were offered spiked Caipirinhas by the female culprits. The suspects were caught fleeing in a taxi with the victim’s phone, which they allegedly used to steal around £2,000.

The arrested suspects were identified as Amanda Couto Deloca, 23; Mayara Katelyn Americo da Silva, 26; and Raiane Campos de Oliveira, 27. Campos de Oliveira, with a history of similar offenses, had a previous conviction overturned last month after serving a partial prison sentence.

Law enforcement officials are waiting for toxicology results to determine the substance used in spiking the drinks and are pursuing additional leads to apprehend any accomplices. The police chief expressed concern over repeat offenders like Campos de Oliveira and advocated for stricter penalties against such criminals.

A legal expert highlighted the challenges in prosecuting ‘Goodnight Cinderella’ perpetrators, emphasizing the difficulties in securing convictions when victims fail to testify consistently throughout legal proceedings.
