Struggling families are encouraged to apply for cost of living vouchers valued at up to £500 this summer. Ribble Valley Borough Council is distributing this assistance through the Household Support Fund, a financial aid initiative provided to local councils by the central Government. The support is typically in the form of vouchers or grants that do not require repayment.
Ribble Valley Borough Council is offering food vouchers to qualifying households with a total annual income below £35,000. Eligible individuals living alone can receive a £200 voucher, while households with two or more adults are entitled to £300. Families with children can receive up to £500 in vouchers.
To address the ongoing financial challenges caused by the increasing cost of living, the Mirror has introduced a Money WhatsApp community to provide the latest cost-saving advice and tips directly to users’ phones. To join, users must have WhatsApp installed on their devices and click on a provided link to access the community.
Applications for the vouchers are currently open on ribblevalley.gov.uk and will remain so until July 11, 2025, subject to fund availability. Residents who previously received vouchers between October 2024 and March 2025 are ineligible. Those who received assistance between April 2024 and September 2024 must wait until after October 2025 for further aid.
Non-Ribble Valley residents should inquire with their local councils about support available through the Household Support Fund. For instance, City of Doncaster Council is assisting households receiving specific benefits, such as Universal Credit and free school meals.
Hull City Council is providing £200 to pensioner households and offering a £40 grant for school uniforms to low-income families, along with food vouchers during school holidays for eligible students. Hartlepool Borough Council is granting £100 food vouchers to households with children aged two to 19 eligible for free school meals, as well as £100 in bank payments or food vouchers to pensioners receiving council tax support.
