“Coldplay ‘Kiss Cam’ Drama: Clarification on Divorce and Separation”

Must Read

The spouse of a woman who was captured on Coldplay’s ‘kiss cam’ appearing affectionate with her supervisor has stated that they had already separated privately and amicably before the concert took place. Kirsten Cabot and her husband Andrew Cabot, 61, officially announced their divorce a few weeks after she was seen with her boss Andy Bryon at a concert by the band.

The video of the incident circulated on social media, leading to Andy resigning from his position as CEO of tech firm Astronomer and Kirstin stepping down from her role as Head of HR. Despite the divorce confirmation, Andrew, an entrepreneur from Massachusetts, clarified that he and Kirstin had been privately separated for several weeks prior to the Coldplay concert.

A representative speaking on Andrew’s behalf informed the media, stating, “The decision to divorce was already in progress before that evening. With the public disclosure of the divorce filing, Andrew hopes this will bring a respectful end to speculation and allow his family the privacy they have always cherished.”

The on-screen moment between Kirstin and her manager garnered global attention, with even Coldplay frontman Chris Martin jesting that they were either “having an affair or just very shy.” Following the incident, both employees were placed on leave, and Andy later resigned from the company for not meeting company standards.

Despite the divorce situation being clarified, Andrew’s spokesperson also conveyed that there would be no further public statements. This marks the first time the woman’s husband has addressed the controversy publicly, albeit through a representative, shedding light on his relationship with Kirstin.

Andrew, who is the CEO of a distillery in Ipswich, Massachusetts, does not have children with Kirstin but has two children from a previous marriage. He emphasized the importance of privacy for his family, which was somewhat compromised during the scandal.

Both Kirstin and her manager reacted uncomfortably when they were featured on the kiss cam at the concert. Kirstin turned away promptly, while he disappeared from view. The incident sparked numerous memes and mockery, drawing national attention to the former colleagues for several days, with online users sharing personal details about their families.

The viral moment sparked debates on privacy in the digital age and the boundaries of public scrutiny. In a press release from November introducing Cabot’s appointment at Astronomer, Byron commended her leadership and expertise in talent management, employee engagement, and people strategies, highlighting her as a valuable leader for the company.
