Texas Woman Implicated in Murder Case After Incriminating Phone Call

Must Read

A woman was taken into custody following an inadvertent phone call that revealed her suspected involvement in disposing of a deceased individual. The audio recording captured Joni Thomas, aged 62, discussing methods to conceal the body of a murder victim, with authorities noting sounds suggesting the movement of a heavy object.

Thomas faces charges of tampering with evidence in connection to the disappearance of flight attendant Rana Nofal Soluri, who went missing in June. Police investigations have determined that the woman was killed in March, prompting efforts to gather corroborating evidence.

Hailing from Texas, Thomas is accused of utilizing her pickup truck to assist alleged killer Dennis William Day, aged 66. Law enforcement believes Thomas aided Day in transporting the victim’s body after he committed the crime and disposed of it off a bridge in Bowie, Texas.

Prosecutors have presented a crucial voicemail found on Thomas’ phone, recorded during the disposal incident, where a distressed male voice can be heard seeking help and expressing regret for involving her in the matter.

Rana, who was Day’s housemate when she vanished, was reportedly strangled by Day in their shared residence in Fort Worth. Day admitted to the murder, explaining that a dispute escalated when she threatened to contact the authorities, leading him to fatally strangle her.

Day and Thomas allegedly discarded the body and victim’s phone in a river, with Day also reportedly disposing of a firearm in a storm drain on a major highway, later recovered by the police. Initially denying any knowledge of the events, Thomas was linked to the disposal through the inadvertent phone call, suggesting a struggle to move a large object, potentially Rana’s body.

Day is currently incarcerated with a $200,000 bail, while Thomas was arrested and subsequently released on bond last month. Authorities have stated that no additional suspects are being pursued, although efforts to locate Rana’s remains persist, keeping the investigation ongoing.
