Renowned contestant of the Great British Bake Off, John Whaite, recently shared that despite his significant financial success, it has come with notable repercussions. After triumphing in the popular Channel 4 competition, he made history by becoming the first same-sex couple participant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021.
Following his success on television, John faced a setback when he lost his position on Steph’s Packed Lunch due to the show’s cancellation. Despite his regular appearances on the Channel 4 program, he acknowledged that he had already planned to step back from his TV career this year.
Expressing his decision to shift focus to a different path, John stated, “Honestly, I am completely fine. This is the truth, I was going to leave TV this year anyway.” He further explained, “That’s why I’ve been off Packed Lunch for a couple of weeks just to get my head in the gear, and I just came to the conclusion that I think my career in television is now done. I’ve had a great run and loved it.”
Opting to venture into the adult content industry, John rejoined OnlyFans. He justified his choice by emphasizing personal growth and the enjoyment he finds in performing and showcasing his physical transformation.
John disclosed that he is now earning more income than during his time on Strictly Come Dancing, where participants reportedly have a capped payment structure. Contestants typically receive £25,000 upon signing up, with increasing payouts based on their progress in the show, culminating in a £100,000 prize for the winner.
When asked about his current earnings compared to his Strictly payment, John revealed that he is making considerably more now. However, this financial gain has been accompanied by the loss of brand deals, including his partnership with Peugeot, which he humorously addressed in a social media post.
John expressed his amusement over the situation, stating, “Pettiness is in for 2025. When @peugeotuk found out about my OnlyFans, they asked me to no longer post about their brand and to give the car back. So I agreed.” He added, “Disclaimer – this is just a laugh and it’s actually a decent car, but so much for being an inclusive brand.”
Moreover, collaborations with Waitrose were reportedly terminated due to his involvement with OnlyFans. Despite these challenges, John continues to embrace his evolving career path and the opportunities it brings.
