A man from Britain was tragically killed in Hungary by a companion who allegedly attempted to move his body down a hallway within a vacation rental in Budapest.
Law enforcement responded to a call reporting an assault involving a knife against a British individual at 4:13 a.m. in the Erzsébetváros neighborhood, known for its vibrant nightlife. Despite efforts by the police to aid the 28-year-old victim, he could not be saved.
A 34-year-old man, identified as a friend of the victim, confessed to the crime when questioned by authorities and was subsequently apprehended. The Budapest Police Headquarters’ Life Protection Department has initiated a murder inquiry. Both men, hailing from the United Kingdom, had been out enjoying the nightlife in Erzsébetváros before returning to their rental apartment.
Witnesses heard a disturbance around 3 a.m., followed by sounds of a scuffle and crashing noises, culminating in sudden silence. An argument escalated into violence, leading to the fatal incident.
The altercation is believed to have occurred at the rented apartment where the two men were staying during their night out. The area is known for its popularity among tourists, with many holidaymakers renting flats in the vicinity.
Images from the site depicted police officers on a balcony shielding the victim from view with a white tarpaulin. Additional officers were seen searching through garbage for the knife used in the attack.
Residents were shocked to witness the suspect dragging the victim’s body along the apartment corridor as police arrived. A pool of blood had already formed outside the door by the time law enforcement intervened.
