Emergency services rushed to an empty silo in Merseyside after receiving reports of a person falling 30 feet inside it. The incident occurred at Woodend Avenue, near Speke Boulevard, with paramedics attending the scene along with police inside an industrial unit on the second floor.
A section of Speke Boulevard was cordoned off outside Dugdale Nutrition as emergency services worked on rescuing the individual who had fallen. Fire crews, equipped with harnesses, made their way towards the site where the rescue operation was ongoing.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service issued a statement confirming their response to the factory on Woodend Avenue in Liverpool. The fire crews, alerted at 7:08 pm and on-site by 7:13 pm, deployed two fire engines and the search and rescue team. Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance Service were also present.
Upon arrival, the rescue team found the casualty had fallen into the empty silo. Plans were made to lower a member of the NWAS Hazardous Area Response Team through an access hatch to assess the condition of the individual. Gas readings indicated normal levels, and Merseyside Police set up a perimeter around the premises to manage the situation. The incident remains ongoing.
