“Summer Streaming Surge Causes Internet Congestion in UK”

Must Read

A recent study by Uswitch has revealed that the surge in streaming and online activity during the summer is leading to internet congestion for many households in the UK. Approximately 9.4 million Brits are expected to experience slower broadband speeds due to the increased demand.

The research conducted by the comparison site indicates that 32% of individuals encounter more frequent broadband issues as temperatures rise. The study also highlights that residents of Edinburgh are the most affected, with 26% reporting reduced speeds, followed by London and Plymouth at 23%, and Leeds and Sheffield.

On the contrary, Cardiff and Bristol appear to have better internet service quality during this period. According to Ernest Doku, Uswitch’s broadband expert, users facing slow speeds should perform a speed test to ensure they are receiving the promised speeds within their package.

Doku advises consumers to check if their broadband provider guarantees a minimum speed, especially for superfast broadband services. This minimum speed is typically based on the line’s capacity directly into the user’s premises.
