“Madeleine McCann Suspect Unrepentant in Prison Interview”

Must Read

Christian Brueckner, the main suspect in the Madeleine McCann case, reportedly shows no remorse for his crimes, according to journalist Ulrich Oppold, who interviewed him in prison. Brueckner, 48, is set to be released from Sehnde prison after serving seven years for the rape of a 72-year-old woman in Portugal in 2019, which occurred in the same area where Madeleine disappeared.

Oppold stated that Brueckner, convicted of the rape, displayed a lack of guilt or regret during their conversation, refusing to answer questions about remorse. Brueckner also denied being dangerous when asked about claims of being a psychopath.

Although Brueckner was named the prime suspect in the Madeleine McCann case in 2020, he has not been formally charged and denies any involvement in her disappearance. German authorities are investigating his potential connection to the case, with chief prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters mentioning evidence against him but deeming it insufficient for a likely guilty verdict.

Prosecutors claim to have linked Brueckner to Madeleine’s disappearance through phone records, pinpointing his presence in Praia de Luz on the night she went missing in 2007. Investigations are ongoing to identify the caller who contacted Brueckner, as it could lead to further developments in the case.

Wolters emphasized the importance of finding the caller, stating that it could strengthen suspicions and potentially result in an arrest warrant or charges against Brueckner. The investigative team continues to work diligently on the case, aiming to gather more evidence for a conclusive resolution.
