“Google Chrome Update Fixes Zero-Day Flaw”

Must Read

Google has released a new update for its Chrome browser to address six security vulnerabilities, with one being classified as zero-day. This means that cybercriminals are already exploiting the flaw. It is crucial for users to ensure they are running the latest version, which is 138.0.7204.157/.158 for Windows and Mac, and 138.0.7204.157 for Linux.

According to security experts at Malwarebytes, the update is essential as it fixes the actively exploited vulnerability, which can be triggered when a user visits a malicious website without requiring any additional user interaction.

To verify your browser version, click on Chrome in the menu bar and select About Chrome. If there are pending updates, it is advised to restart the software promptly.

This alert follows a previous advisory for users to update their browsers due to another zero-day bug discovery earlier this month. Additionally, security experts have highlighted concerns about fake extensions targeting millions of Chrome users, potentially exposing them to attacks. Users impacted by this issue are recommended to reset their Chrome software and clear browsing data.

Google has removed all affected extensions to prevent new infections among users.
