“Daycare Worker Charged with Child Abuse”

Must Read

A childcare worker is facing charges of child abuse for allegedly severely injuring a one-year-old boy on his first day at the daycare center. Yvette Thurston, 54, has been accused of first-degree child abuse and first-degree aggravated battery following the incident that took place on August 11 at Little Blessings Child Care in Bainbridge.

The parents of the child, Clay Weeks, reported that their son sustained serious injuries, including a black eye and multiple cuts on his face and mouth while under Thurston’s care. Initially, the nursery claimed that another child had caused the injuries, but surveillance footage obtained by the parents revealed Thurston physically assaulting the boy.

Thurston was released on bail on August 16, which resulted in threats against Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Rose-Emmons. District Attorney Joe Mulholland condemned the violence and emphasized the importance of protecting children and upholding the judicial system’s integrity.

Mulholland stated that any individual making threats against children or judicial officials would face severe consequences under the law. Cory Weeks, the child’s father, expressed his determination to seek accountability for the incident and urged trust in the investigative and legal process to deliver justice.
