Despite their enduring bond, Aniston was surprised when Witherspoon disclosed her full legal name during a recent press interview.
Originally named Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon, the actress opted to shorten her name when embarking on her acting career, selecting the moniker she is now known by. While many fans may not have been aware that Reese’s actual first name is Laura, Jennifer was equally taken aback when this piece of information came to light during a segment of LADBible’s Do You Even Know Me? as part of the promotion for the fourth season of their popular Apple TV+ series.
The duo, who first met in 2000 when Reese made a notable appearance on Friends as Jennifer’s on-screen sibling, engaged in a light-hearted question-and-answer session about each other.
During the exchange, Witherspoon asked Aniston about her true name, inquiring, “What is my actual middle name? A: Jane, B: Jean, or C: Joan.” Aniston mistakenly guessed Jane, prompting Witherspoon to clarify, “It’s confusing. I’m Laura Jean.”
Nevertheless, despite the casual revelation, this newfound information left Aniston almost speechless as she reacted, “Laura Jean?”
Witherspoon then confirmed, “That’s my real name. Yeah.”
This revelation prompted her surprised co-star to exclaim, “Laura! Who’s Laura? Who the heck is Laura? I’m not calling you that anymore! Where did Reese come from?”
Clarifying further, Reese explained, “It’s my middle name. I’m Laura Jean Reese.”
