Donald and Melania Trump delayed their meeting with William and Kate during the initial full day of his second state visit. The scheduled encounter between the President, his wife, William, and Kate was supposed to take place at 12pm but was delayed. Trump and Melania were expected to be greeted by the Prince and Duchess of Cambridge in the Walled Garden area of the Windsor estate.
The President’s Marine One helicopter was observed hovering above the garden’s lawn around 12:10pm, approximately 15 minutes past the original schedule. Upon their arrival, Trump and Melania were warmly welcomed by Kate with a broad smile before she shook hands with the President. The group of four then walked together, with William and Trump engaged in conversation.
They escorted the President and First Lady a short distance where Trump met with King Charles and Queen Camilla outside Victoria House, marking the official commencement of the second state visit. During the introduction, William mentioned, “This is my father,” to Mr. Trump as they approached the King, who greeted them with a small wave.
The visit included a carriage procession through the Windsor estate towards the castle, featuring 80 soldiers from the House Cavalry Mounted Regiment serving as the Sovereign’s Escort. The route was lined by personnel from various branches of the military, showcasing a grand display of royal presence.
As the Trumps made their way to the castle, they passed by Frogmore House, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex held their evening wedding reception, and Frogmore Cottage, which briefly housed Harry and Meghan before their transition out of the working monarchy.
Later in the day, the RAF’s Red Arrows performed a flyover at Windsor Castle as part of the elaborate itinerary designed to impress Trump during his second state visit. The planned activities include royal banquets, receptions, and a visit to Sir Keir Starmer’s country estate at Chequers.
