Aldi has unveiled a list of 23 towns and cities where it aims to establish new stores. The discount retailer is focusing on these areas as part of an extensive £1.6 billion expansion strategy set for the next two years. In its recent annual trading update, Aldi announced intentions to launch 80 stores between 2026 and 2027.
In addition to new store openings, the investment will be utilized for enhancing existing stores and upgrading the distribution network. Aldi, currently operating 1,060 stores, has previously stated plans to increase this count to 1,500 nationwide. The expansion initiative is expected to generate numerous job opportunities and foster growth for British suppliers.
Among the locations targeted by Aldi for new store development in the coming years are:

Aldi’s strategy revolves around offering transparent pricing without any gimmicks, clubs, or tricks. The retailer aims to bridge the gap in areas where Aldi is not currently present and plans to allocate a significant sum of £1.6 billion over the next two years to reach more customers with its affordable pricing.
Aldi’s latest financial report for the 12 months ending December 2024 revealed a surge in sales to £18.1 billion. However, operating profit decreased to £435.5 million due in part to lower prices, infrastructure investments, and higher staff wages.
Moreover, Aldi recently announced a reduction in prices for over 900 products in its range, highlighting investments exceeding £300 million in price reductions since the beginning of 2025. The supermarket also raised the minimum wage for store assistants twice this year, with hourly rates now starting at £13.02 nationally and £14.35 within the M25 as of this month.
