A mother from Hull, Soreena O’Malley, is facing a severe infection resulting from botched plastic surgery in Turkey that left her without a normal stomach appearance. She underwent a tummy tuck and 360 liposuction procedures advertised on Facebook, which led to complications.
After returning to England, the NHS informed her of the incorrect procedure and she is now dealing with poor wound circulation. Soreena, bedridden for three months, had to seek emergency treatment through the NHS due to the complications.
Currently, she has a significant wound on her stomach, hindering her ability to perform basic tasks like dressing herself. She expressed disappointment over the outcome, mentioning the struggle of being bed-bound despite her initial motivation to improve her body image.
Post-surgery, Soreena described the infection as aggressively damaging her skin, leaving a substantial hole in her abdomen that may take up to two years to heal. She is worried about others contemplating cosmetic surgery abroad and emphasized the importance of receiving proper care.
Reflecting on her pre-surgery experience, Soreena recounted feeling unsettled upon arrival at the hospital and faced challenges, including language barriers and lack of adequate care. She highlighted the need for caution when considering cosmetic procedures and advised against making hasty decisions.
The NHS advises individuals to be cautious when opting for packaged cosmetic surgery deals, suggesting consultations with surgeons, visiting hospitals in advance, and ensuring direct contact with the operating surgeon.
To fund corrective surgery, Soreena’s partner initiated a gofundme campaign with a target of £5,000. As of now, £426 has been raised. Those willing to contribute can donate here.
