Crystal Palace is set to play against Liverpool in the Community Shield this Sunday, but the match will not be broadcast on ITV. Earlier in May, Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace surprised the world by defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final, with Eberechi Eze scoring the winning goal.
The Community Shield showdown between Crystal Palace and Liverpool will be held at Wembley Stadium in London, with a 3pm BST kick-off time. Despite being previously aired on ITV, the game will now be exclusively shown on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.
The FA confirmed that the match will feature Crystal Palace, the 2024-25 Emirates FA Cup winners, and Liverpool, the 2024-25 Premier League champions. Discovery+ subscribers can also watch the game on various devices.
Formerly known as the Charity Shield, the Community Shield is an annual match between the winners of the previous season’s FA Cup and Premier League. The proceeds from the game are donated to community initiatives and charitable causes. Manchester City won last year’s Community Shield, while Crystal Palace will make their debut appearance in the competition.
Liverpool has a strong history in the Community Shield, having won it 16 times, including a recent victory over Man City in 2022. Sky has reduced the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering a significant discount and over 1,400 live matches for the upcoming season.
Sky plans to broadcast at least 215 live Premier League games next season, providing a substantial increase in coverage.
