“Hamilton Urges Ferrari Overhaul Amid Struggles”

Must Read

Lewis Hamilton has once again communicated with Ferrari executives to emphasize his requests for revisions to the team’s procedures. The seven-time world champion has faced challenges since joining Ferrari from Mercedes last winter.

Hamilton, aged 40, has yet to secure a podium finish with his new team and currently holds sixth place in the drivers’ standings ahead of the upcoming United States Grand Prix, trailing his teammate Charles Leclerc by 48 points.

During the Belgium Grand Prix in July, Hamilton disclosed that he has been submitting a series of “documents” to Ferrari throughout the season in an effort to turn his luck around following a challenging initial season.

Reports from August indicated that Hamilton’s correspondences pertain to proposed alterations to the car and the team’s operational processes, encompassing communication between various departments on race weekends.

According to the Italian publication Corriere della Sera, Hamilton has sent another dossier to Ferrari’s ‘top management’ to emphasize the necessity for changes throughout the team.

The report also mentioned that Hamilton had anticipated having a more significant impact on Ferrari’s decision-making, but instead, he has encountered unfamiliar requests and internal power struggles.

Hamilton’s predicament at Ferrari has drawn parallels to that of four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, who faced difficulties in instigating change during his tenure at the team from 2015 to 2020.

In fact, Hamilton sought guidance from Vettel in January before commencing his journey with Ferrari. He reached out to Vettel over the phone to seek advice on acclimating to his new team and exchanging insights with his fellow world champion.

Following a qualifying session at the Singapore Grand Prix earlier this month, where Hamilton and Leclerc were stuck in the pit lane queue, Hamilton highlighted an area for improvement for Ferrari, pointing out that they were struggling to maintain adequate tire temperature.

This led to the Ferrari drivers pushing the tires excessively on the outlap to regain temperature, resulting in subpar performance on their flying laps. Hamilton expressed concerns about this recurring issue affecting their performance weekend after weekend.

Formula 1 enthusiasts can now enjoy live coverage of every practice, qualifying session, and race with Sky’s new Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, which offers a significant saving of £192. The package includes access to Sky Sports, around 100 TV channels, and complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.
