A man, identified as Luke Allman, was sentenced to nine years in prison after a violent incident on February 23. Allman, aged 26, had consumed cocaine and drank 10 pints of beer before attacking a doorman during a night out to celebrate his upcoming first child’s gender.
The altercation occurred at a bar near Stockport station in Greater Manchester. Allman became agitated, threatening bar staff and causing a commotion by shouting profanities. CCTV footage captured Allman being thrown out of the bar after a scuffle with security staff.
Despite being ejected, Allman returned shortly after with a small knife, believing it was legal due to its size. He attempted to re-enter the bar, claiming he needed a minute, before launching an attack on a bouncer. Unfortunately, the doorman who intervened was stabbed and sustained severe injuries that required emergency surgery.
During the struggle to disarm Allman, four security staff members were injured, with one suffering head trauma and a thumb injury. Allman later confessed to the police that he had been heavily intoxicated and felt mistreated by the security personnel.
The victims of the attack expressed their trauma and fear following the incident, with one doorman mentioning a significant impact on his daily life and work due to the attack. The female staff member also shared her distress, revealing that she had to seek psychiatric help for two weeks after the ordeal.
Allman pleaded guilty to several charges, including causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. His defense attorney acknowledged the devastating consequences of the incident for all parties involved, emphasizing Allman’s impaired state and feeling of mistreatment by the security staff.
Addressing Allman during sentencing, Judge Maurice Greene recognized some provocation but condemned the retaliatory violence, stating that the doorman who was stabbed was an innocent victim caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
