Jake Paul recently expressed his thoughts following the announcement of his upcoming bout with lightweight champion Gervonta Davis. The highly anticipated match is scheduled to take place on November 15 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The news initially surfaced on Netflix Turkiye X’s official account before being swiftly removed, with Ring Magazine reporter Mike Coppinger later verifying the information.
In a tweet, Paul confirmed the showdown with Davis and mentioned that discussions with Anthony Joshua fell through due to network complications. Despite Davis being a champion at 135 pounds and Paul’s last fight occurring at 200 pounds, the clash generated immense excitement among boxing enthusiasts.
Paul, known as the ‘Problem Child,’ shared his intentions to face Davis, stating, “Gervonta, who has been disrespecting my name for too long… I’m about to disable the tiny boy.” While acknowledging Davis as a top pound-for-pound boxer globally, Paul emphasized his readiness to take on any challenge.
Paul’s previous fight in June against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. resulted in a victory on points, showcasing his boxing prowess. The 28-year-old, aiming for a more active schedule in the ring, had been eyeing a potential match with Anthony Joshua, although plans for this bout did not materialize.
Davis, set for a rematch with Lamont Roach, redirected his focus towards facing Paul. The exchange between the fighters escalated on social media, with Roach even engaging in online banter. Paul, who had previously aimed for a fight against Davis at 195 pounds, stressed his eagerness for the exhibition bout.
Expressing his confidence in defeating Davis, Paul highlighted perceived weaknesses in his opponent’s game. Despite the weight difference, Paul was willing to adjust to Davis’s weight class for the fight. The match, proposed for 10 three-minute rounds without rule restrictions, is anticipated to be a thrilling encounter for fans.
