More than a day has gone by since right-wing speaker Charlie Kirk was fatally shot in front of a large crowd of Utah Valley University students. The search for a “person of interest” linked to his death is ongoing.
Authorities in the US are pursuing various leads and have received over 200 tips from the public to locate the individual responsible for Kirk’s murder. The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect.
Recently, a photo of a man in a dark T-shirt and baseball cap was released to aid in the manhunt. Despite the postponement of a press conference due to rapid developments, the police have not yet found the person captured on campus security cameras. Additional images of the suspect were later released in hopes of advancing the investigation.
The suspect, appearing in security footage wearing distinctive clothing, is seen walking through the university campus. Efforts by federal agents and local law enforcement to track down the suspect, described as college-aged, are ongoing.
Following the tragic incident, where Kirk was shot during a public event, authorities briefly detained and later released individuals from the scene. Investigators believe the shot came from a rooftop nearby, leading to chaos among the students present.
A high-caliber rifle believed to be the weapon used in the shooting was discovered in the vicinity along with a footprint, currently undergoing forensic analysis. Kirk’s body is being returned to his family in Arizona, with US Vice President JD Vance personally accompanying the remains on Air Force Two.
Vance, a close friend and political associate of Kirk, paid his respects by escorting the body home, expressing his deep sorrow over the loss. The Vice President’s gesture of placing his hand on Kirk’s casket as he bid farewell at the airport was a solemn moment of remembrance.
