If you are struggling to pay your energy bills, your energy provider offers various options to help reduce your expenses. However, if the debts remain unpaid, they can escalate, causing significant distress to individuals facing financial difficulties.

As a response, the regulatory body Ofgem has introduced the initial phase of its strategy to address energy debt issues.

Presently, millions struggle with energy bill payments, with total debts reaching approximately £4.4 billion. Ofgem’s proposal includes writing off £500 million of this debt under a new Debt Relief Scheme.
