“Scotland to Provide £293.50 Bonus for Carers”

Must Read

Thousands of individuals receiving benefits in Scotland are set to receive an additional payment of £293.50 later this year. This extra amount is designated for recipients of Carer’s Allowance or the new Carer Support Payment in Scotland. The bonus payment, known as the Carer’s Allowance Supplement, is distributed twice annually, with the last payment issued in June 2025 and the next one scheduled for December 2025. Eligibility for this bonus typically requires active claims for Carer’s Allowance or Carer Support Payment.

Recipients entitled to this payment will receive a notification from Social Security Scotland and the funds will be automatically deposited into their registered bank account. Both Carer’s Allowance and Carer Support Payment amount to £83.30 per week. Individuals providing a minimum of 35 hours of care per week, which includes assisting with daily activities like laundry, bill management, or transportation to medical appointments, are eligible for Carer’s Allowance. The care recipient must also be receiving specific benefits, and the caregiver must be over 16 years old, not in full-time education, and earning below the income threshold of £196 per week.

It is crucial to note that claiming Carer’s Allowance may impact both the recipient’s and the caregiver’s benefits.
