TikTok Outage Sparks Global Frustrations

Thousands of individuals on social media voiced their frustrations as TikTok experienced a widespread outage earlier today. Reports of the outage began surfacing globally around 7am, as indicated by the website DownDetector.

The United Kingdom saw a surge in complaints just before 9am, with approximately 1,646 users reporting issues with the platform. Similar reports came in from countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Singapore, and Latvia.

The number of documented TikTok outages significantly declined, according to Downdetector’s data. After peaking at nearly 1,600 reported outages at 8:39am, the figure had decreased to around 163 by 10:09am.

Users took to other social media platforms to express their frustrations about the app being inaccessible. For instance, Twitter user @xuechaew questioned, “It’s not just my TikTok being down right?”

Numerous TikTok users worldwide highlighted problems with the social media platform. Users from various countries, including Australia, Kuwait, France, Mexico, and Kazakhstan, shared their experiences of facing outage issues.

Downdetector revealed that the majority of reported problems on TikTok were related to the app itself, with an estimated 88% of users citing app-related issues. Additionally, nine percent reported problems with the feed, while three percent mentioned issues with comments.

Amid the TikTok outage, social media users expressed their dismay. User Patty, for example, conveyed on Twitter, “Tiktok being down is starting to stress me.”

Numerous users have documented their challenges during this period of disruption.
