“Trump and Cooper’s Tense Handshake Sparks Controversy”

Must Read

Donald Trump greeted Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper with a prolonged handshake upon his arrival at Stansted airport for his second official visit to the UK. The two exchanged pleasantries for approximately 11 seconds as the President stepped off Air Force One before being escorted to Winfield House, the residence of the US Ambassador, where he will be accommodated for the night.

Yvette Cooper has previously voiced her disapproval of President Trump’s behavior, condemning his “aggressive misogyny” and “appalling conduct.” In a post from 2017, she expressed concerns about the normalization of hatred by Trump, deeming it perilous. Additionally, in 2015, she criticized Trump’s actions as irresponsible and hazardous, emphasizing the need to take a stand against such behavior.

In preparation for his 2018 UK visit, Cooper criticized Theresa May for eagerly inviting Trump, her reluctance to condemn policies like the Muslim ban and child detention, and her pursuit of a disadvantageous trade deal with the US.

The President arrived in the UK for his significant second state visit, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer aiming to showcase a grand reception for Trump. Starmer is expected to urge Trump to adopt a more supportive stance on Ukraine and negotiate a trade agreement that reduces barriers for British goods entering the US market.

Later in the evening, Trump will travel to Wingfield House in London’s Regent’s Park, where he will be welcomed with a royal salute. On Wednesday, he will experience a carriage procession through the Windsor estate, accompanied by King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Catherine, with members of the armed forces lining the route.
