A vacationer from the UK was hit twice by a suspected drunk driver in Turkey, sustaining severe injuries. Keith Di Palma recounted the incident where his wife, Lisa, was struck on a pedestrian crossing on August 6 during their holiday. He mentioned that the driver hit her a second time while attempting to flee the scene. Despite the ordeal, Keith expressed determination to support his wife during her recovery.

The couple, hailing from Hornchurch, East London, had been enjoying their vacation in Fethiye, Mugla Province, when the accident occurred. The driver, allegedly intoxicated, was taken into custody by the Turkish authorities. The incident left Lisa with multiple injuries, and she was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Keith shared on social media that they were in Turkey celebrating their 36th wedding anniversary. He described his wife as his pillar of strength and expressed gratitude for her recovery progress despite not remembering the accident.

Turkey continues to be a popular destination for British tourists, attracting around 4.4 million visitors from the UK in 2024. Although it is considered a budget-friendly alternative to other Mediterranean destinations, some travelers have reported rising costs in recent times.

One dissatisfied British tourist warned others planning a trip to Turkey to be prepared for higher expenses, stating that prices for dining and entertainment have significantly increased. Despite its attractions like Istanbul, Cappadocia, and Antalya, the tourist emphasized the need to budget more when visiting Turkey due to the escalating costs.
