“Virgin Media Tops UK Broadband Speed Rankings”

Must Read

Broadband has become an essential aspect of daily life, supporting activities such as streaming entertainment, remote work, home security through internet-connected cameras, and managing smart home devices like lighting and heating.

As households increasingly adopt internet-connected gadgets and rely on online content streaming, the demand for fast and stable internet access is growing. However, not all internet service providers (ISPs) deliver the same level of performance, as highlighted by SpeedGo, a new broadband speed-testing service enabling users to compare their internet speeds with others in their vicinity.

According to SpeedGo’s recent data, Virgin Media leads in the UK with an average download speed of 256.5Mbps, allowing for the download of a full HD movie in just over two minutes—more than three times faster than the national average. Following closely is Vodafone with an average download speed of 175Mbps, trailed by BT (EE). TalkTalk ranked lowest with an average speed of under 95Mbps.

The rankings for average download speeds in the UK are as follows:
– Virgin Media: 256.5Mbps
– Vodafone: 175.1Mbps
– BT (EE): 122.5Mbps
– Sky Broadband: 113.6Mbps
– TalkTalk: 94.7Mbps

Additionally, SpeedGo analyzed upload speeds, crucial for users who frequently send large files or work remotely. Vodafone excelled in this category with an average upload speed of 83.6Mbps, surpassing Virgin Media, which secured the second position with 47.2Mbps.

In agreement with the results, SpeedGo stated, “In 2025, Virgin Media provided the fastest broadband internet in the United Kingdom, boasting an average download speed of 256.5Mbps. Vodafone achieved the highest average upload speed at 83.6Mbps.”
