“Major UK Insurer Collapse Leaves Thousands Without Coverage”

Must Read

Thousands of motorists could find themselves without valid auto insurance starting today following the collapse of a major provider. Premier Insurance Company Limited, a Gibraltar-headquartered insurer offering car and motorcycle coverage in the UK, entered administration last month. Policyholders are urged to secure new insurance as their existing policies are no longer in effect.

Individuals who have already switched to a new insurer are now covered by their new policies. Approximately 16,000 customers and small businesses were affected by Premier Insurance’s closure, with claims now being handled by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

Car insurance is a legal necessity in the UK and must be renewed annually. The three primary types of insurance are third party, third party fire and theft, and fully comprehensive. When seeking new quotes, using comparison websites like Compare the Market, Go Compare, and Confused.com is recommended. Experts suggest renewing insurance 20 to 26 days before expiration and checking directly with providers, as not all are listed on comparison sites.

Notable insurance provider Direct Line is among those not featured on comparison platforms. Customers should explore potential cashback offers through platforms like Topcashback and Quidco when switching policies. The FSCS is working to safeguard the interests of affected Premier Insurance policyholders and small businesses during this transition period.
