Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK that feature internet-connected cameras with full cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This pricing is significantly lower compared to purchasing a Ring system through Amazon, potentially saving consumers over £100.
The first option includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee, offering features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the accessibility and simplicity of the new plans, stating that they aim to provide high-quality smart technology that is easy to use and affordable for customers.
Previously, Sky mainly offered Protect Smart Home Insurance, which combined cameras and alarms. With these new standalone services, Sky Smart Home products are now more accessible to consumers.
In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
