“Greggs Debuts Pub: Craft Beers and Sausage Roll Twists”

Must Read

High street bakery chain Greggs will soon debut its inaugural pub, offering a unique selection of craft beers alongside its iconic sausage rolls. Named “The Golden Flake Tavern,” this pub is set to launch within the Fenwick Newcastle department store, with the first pour scheduled for this Saturday. The pub will feature two exclusive draft beers, Pink Jammie Pale Ale and Gosforth 1939 Stottie Lager, crafted in collaboration with Newcastle’s Full Circle Brew Co.

In addition to the beer offerings, The Golden Flake Tavern will showcase a Greggs-inspired cocktail menu. Patrons can indulge in a range of 15 traditional pub dishes with a Greggs twist, including the chicken bake Parmo, steak bake mixed grill, sausage roll & mash, and a Greggs ploughman’s platter.

For dessert enthusiasts, the menu will feature delectable treats like yum yum bread & butter pudding and pink jammie trifle, a delightful concoction of doughnut pieces nestled in jelly, topped with jam, custard, and whipped cream. This new venture follows the prosperous establishment of the Greggs restaurant within the Fenwick store two years ago.

A highlight of The Golden Flake Tavern is its traditional Sunday carvery, offering a choice of steak bake, chicken bake, or cheese & onion bake as the centerpiece, accompanied by sides such as cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, and Yorkshire puddings.

To add to the pub’s appeal, a quiz night will be held every Tuesday starting from October 7, with team tickets priced at £5 for up to six participants.

The collaboration between Greggs and Fenwick continues with The Golden Flake, following the success of previous joint ventures like Bistro Greggs and the Greggs Champagne Bar. Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs, expressed excitement for this new endeavor, aiming to offer a distinct British pub experience with a Greggs touch.

Leo Fenwick, strategic partnerships director at Fenwick, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, blending Greggs’ beloved classics with Fenwick’s commitment to creating memorable in-store experiences. As prominent North East entities, the partnership aims to provide customers with a playful, surprising, and truly unique experience in the heart of Newcastle.

The pub, accommodating up to 88 guests at full capacity, encourages diners to make reservations through the Fenwick website starting at midday on Thursday. Walk-ins are also welcome, and the pub is scheduled to operate until February 15 next year.
