“Trainer Duo’s Oscars Brother Triumphs at Punchestown”

Must Read

In a remarkable victory, a trainer overseeing only two horses, along with his jockey brother, triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown with Oscars Brother.

The competition, a Grade Two event, featured entries from prominent Irish stables such as Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as the fourth-placed finisher in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle, Rocky’s Diamond.

Outperforming the field was handler Connor King with Oscars Brother, expertly guided by his brother and jockey Daniel around the County Kildare track.

Maintaining a front position throughout, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, displayed impeccable jumping skills and surged ahead to secure victory by three lengths over Koktail Divin from De Bromhead’s stable.

Prior to the three-mile race, Oscars Brother had a successful warm-up in a novice chase at Galway on soft to heavy ground.

The duo now aims to develop Oscars Brother into a Grade One contender, a remarkable feat considering their modest yard with just one other racehorse in training.

Reflecting on the victory, Daniel expressed his joy, stating, “It’s a fantastic feeling to secure a significant win for my brother. Oscars Brother is a delightful horse for him to train and for me to ride. Despite the small field, it was a competitive race. Our horse continues to progress, and we felt confident in his abilities.”

Looking ahead, Connor, a former jockey, mentioned the possibility of entering Oscars Brother in the prestigious Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the Christmas period.

He added, “Oscars Brother has transitioned well from hurdles to chasing, and we believe in his potential as a top chaser. I recall the previous year’s race with only three participants and thought it would be a fitting target for us.”
