In the latest update for January 2026, the results of the Premium Bond draw have been revealed, bringing fortune to two individuals who are now £1 million richer as they kick off the New Year.
The initial £1 million victor resides in Suffolk and holds the maximum amount of £50,000 in Premium Bonds. Their winning bond number, 570QM451332, was acquired back in February 2024.
The second £1 million winner hails from Berkshire and also possesses £50,000 in Premium Bonds. Their winning bond number, 377PG290829, was purchased in December 2019.
Premium Bonds, a savings offering by National Savings & Investment (NS&I), operate differently from traditional interest-bearing accounts by entering holders into a monthly prize draw.
The odds of winning a prize with Premium Bonds vary, with the minimum prize set at £25 and the grand prize reaching £1 million. While the chances of winning big every month are not guaranteed, smaller prizes are more frequently distributed compared to the larger sums.
With thousands of £25 prizes usually awarded alongside only two £1 million prizes, the highest amount allowed to be saved in Premium Bonds is £50,000. Each pound invested corresponds to a unique bond number, with odds of winning set at 22,000 to 1 for each £1 bond.
Winners are notified via email or text message by NS&I upon winning a prize, and they can opt to receive the money in their bank account or reinvest it in Premium Bonds. The current prize fund rate, equivalent to an interest rate, stands at 3.60%, maintained since the August 2025 draw.
Despite a slight decline in the prize fund rate recently, resulting in fewer large prizes being distributed and an increase in smaller prizes, two £1 million prizes are still awarded monthly among over 24 million Premium Bond holders.
Data from the previous month highlighted the luckiest regions for Premium Bond prizes, showing Hampshire and the Isle of Wight as the second most fortunate area with 42 individuals winning £100,000 prizes in 2025. Essex and Outer London followed closely with 37 and 32 £100,000 winners, respectively, while Norwich and Cumbria each celebrated a double £1 million jackpot triumph in the same year.
